With a planned overall budget of \u20ac7.5 billion (in current prices), it aims to accelerate the economic recovery and shape the digital transformation of Europe\u2019s society and economy, bringing benefits to everyone, but in particular to small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>The Digital Europe Programme will not address these challenges in isolation, but rather complement the funding available through\u00a0other EU programmes, such as the <em>Horizon Europe programme<\/em> for research and innovation and the <em>Connecting Europe Facility<\/em> for digital infrastructure, the <em>Recovery and Resilience Facility<\/em> and the <em>Structural funds<\/em>, to name a few. It is a part of the next long-term EU budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021-2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"ux-panel\" data-e2e=\"ux-panel\">\n<div class=\"ux-panel-item mb-5 ux-panel-item--flat ng-star-inserted\">\n<div class=\"ux-panel-content\" aria-live=\"polite\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-12\">\n<p><em>What will the Digital Europe Programme fund?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Supercomputing<br \/>\n<\/strong>Build up and strengthen the EU\u2019s supercomputing and data processing capacities by buying world- class exascale supercomputers by 2022\/2023 (capable of at least a billion billion or 1018 calculations per second) and post exascale facilities by 2026\/2027. Increase accessibility and broaden the use of supercomputing in areas of public interest such as health, environment and security, and in industry, including small and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Artificial intelligence<br \/>\n<\/strong>Invest in and open up the use of artificial intelligence by businesses and public administrations. Set up a true European data space and facilitate safe access to and storage of large datasets and trustworthy and energy efficient cloud infrastructure. Strengthen and support existing artificial intelligence testing and experimentation facilities in areas such as health and mobility in Member States and encourage their cooperation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Cybersecurity<br \/>\n<\/strong>Strengthening cybersecurity coordination between Member States tools and data infrastructures. Support the wide deployment of the cybersecurity capacities across the economy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Advanced digital skills<br \/>\n<\/strong>Support the design and delivery of specialized programmes and traineeships for the future experts in key capacity areas like data and AI, cybersecurity, quantum and HPC. Support the upskilling of the existing workforce through short trainings reflecting the latest developments in key capacity areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. On the same day\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu\/en\/news\/commission-invest-eu292-million-digital-technologies-and-cybersecurity\">the second calls<\/a> \u00a0were opened.\u00a0 Further calls are expected to be opened early Autumn 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/funding-tenders\/opportunities\/portal\/screen\/programmes\/digital\">funding and tender opportunities<\/a>\u00a0web page gives you an overview of the calls for proposals (\u2018calls\u2019) that are forthcoming or already open. \u00a0Each call has its own call document, related to a particular topic. It gives more precise information on some of the issues that the European Commission would like you to address in the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>If you wish to respond to a call, you must submit a proposal before 17:00 Brussels time on the day of the indicated call deadline. \u00a0Please note that this deadline and specific time are strict and must be respected. The European Commission strongly advises to submit your proposal in good time and not to wait until the last moment. All proposals need to be submitted online.
