the <strong>UrbAct<\/strong> programme has been the European Territorial Cooperation programme aiming to foster sustainable integrated urban development in cities across Europe. It is an instrument of the Cohesion Policy, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the 28 Member States, Norway &amp; Switzerland.<\/p>\n<p>UrbAct's mission is to enable cities to work together and develop integrated solutions to common urban challenges, by networking, learning from one another\u2019s experiences, drawing lessons and identifying good practices to improve urban policies.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden\">\n<div class=\"field-items\">\n<div class=\"field-item even\">\n<p>Following the success of the UrbAct I, II and III programmes, <strong>UrbAct IV<\/strong> (2021-2027) has been developed to continue to promote sustainable integrated urban development and contribute to the delivery of the Europe 2020 strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The UrbAct IV programme is organised around four main objectives:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Capacity for Policy Delivery<\/em>:\u00a0to improve the capacity of cities to manage sustainable urban policies and practices in an integrated and participative way.<\/li>\n<li><em>Policy Design<\/em>:\u00a0to improve the design of sustainable urban policies and practices in cities.<\/li>\n<li><em>Policy Implementation<\/em>:\u00a0to improve the implementation of integrated and sustainable urban strategies and actions in cities.<\/li>\n<li><em>Building and Sharing Knowledge<\/em>:\u00a0to ensure that practitioners and decision-makers at all levels have access to knowledge and share know-how on all aspects of sustainable urban development in order to improve urban development policies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>To reach these objectives, UrbAct IV develops 3 types of interventions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>transnational exchanges,<\/li>\n<li>capacity-building,<\/li>\n<li>capitalisation &amp; The main target participants include practitioners, city managers, elected representatives and stakeholders from other public agencies, the private sector and civil society.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">URBACT and the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.urban-initiative.eu\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">European Urban Initiative<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will work in collaboration to provide a coherent offer to urban stakeholders and <\/span><strong>support to cities for their integrated and sustainable urban development under Cohesion policy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the first time in the programme, beneficiaries will include cities from 5 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/regional_policy\/en\/policy\/what\/glossary\/i\/ipa\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IPA countries<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Albania, Montenegro, Serbia, Republic of North Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina). The specificities of the IPA cities participating in URBACT will be addressed through a dedicated needs analysis exercise. The cities will receive support related to the design of integrated action plans for sustainable urban development and will have the opportunity to share experience with EU peers supporting the preparation of these countries for accession to the EU.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>first call of URBACT IV will open in January 2023<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Cities and other entities that wish to join an Action Planning Network will be welcome to build partnerships and send applications within the following three months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">URBACT IV will also offer several tools to help cities, such as an online Partner Search Tool which will help them in finding partners for their project or contacting people with existing ideas.
