Applications for the Access City Award competition are open. The Award recognises cities which have made significant efforts to become more accessible for persons with disabilities and have plans for further improvement. The winning city will receive a financial prize of €150,000, the second and third place winners will receive €120,000 and €80,000 respectively. The competition, organised by the European Commission in partnership with the European Disability Forum, is open to EU cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants. The winners of this year’s Award will be announced at a conference on the European Day of Persons with Disabilities on 25 November. Applications are open until 8 September.
