Erasmus+ (2021-2029) represents the second stage of the one already developed in the 2014-2020 period, which in turn replaced the EU programs in the field of education, training and youth from the 2007-2013 period: Lifelong Learning Program (Erasmus, Leonardo da Vinci, Comenius and Grundtvig), Youth in Action, international cooperation programs in the educational field (Erasmus Mundus, Tempus, Alfa, Edulink) and the program for cooperation with industrialized countries.
Erasmus+ is the EU program to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe and has an estimated budget of €26.2 billion. This is almost double the funding of the program that preceded it in the period 2014-2020. For the period 2021-2027, the program places particular emphasis on social inclusion, green and digital transitions, and fostering the participation of young people in democratic life. It supports the priorities and activities established in the European Education Area, the Digital Education Action Plan and the European Skills Agenda. The program also supports the European Pillar of Social Rights, implements the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027, and develops the European dimension of sport.
Areas of application of the Program
1. Education and training at all levels, with a lifelong learning perspective, including school education (Comenius), higher education (Erasmus), international higher education (Erasmus Mundus), vocational education and training ( Leonardo da Vinci) and adult learning (Grundtvig).
2. Youth (Youth in Action), in particular non-formal and informal learning.
3. Sport, in particular grassroots sport.
